Er, I... don't spend very much time with my family... Well, I see them a little more frequently these days, but I'm still not exactly involved in their personal affairs.

You should spend more time with them then. Family is important!

It's just been a little awkward to insert myself back into their lives after working for Master Rufus for so long. For them as well as me. Since I married Sharon, it seems like they've run out of unfavorable comparisons to make at my expense, but honestly I'm not sure if that's an improvement or a detriment.

If awkwardness is enough to keep your distance over, you're going to have regrets one day.

I'm not keeping my distance, I was just busy until recently. But, as you've already gathered, I'm not qualified to give advice on matters of family.

[ finishes preparing a tray of food and tea and brings it out to him ]

... Well, even outside of family, I think the way that I handle conflicts and disagreements with others wouldn't be particularly helpful to you.

Why's that?

Most of the time, I simply give up on changing their opinion or behavior. Once I've accepted that, I can adjust accordingly to work around them without relying on any futile hopes to move forward.

[That's kinda cowardly in Elliot logic, which would normally make him mad. But the way Reim says it makes it feel extremely powerful and a little frightening, so he just quietly sips his tea instead.]

Well, there is always the saying, 'if pushing doesn't work, try pulling.' If you feel your current approach really isn't getting you anywhere, then you could always try to think of something completely unlike it, instead.
