TBH HE IS KIND OF. TRYING TO PUT THE FACT THAT THEY ARE BOTH DATING BREAK OUT OF HIS MIND IN THEIR INTERACTIONS RN. he actually got really jealous about it in a deeply confusing way which is part of why the initial conversation turned into a shouting match (Break has also gotten a little bit of the blowback for this in that Reim sometimes says things, jealously, that make absolutely no sense with the timeline of events as presented) while also 100% feeling like he should not really and absolutely does not have the right to feel jealous. but it's not that he's especially possessive of Break or doesn't want to share (lol) or that he feels like Roy has infringed on their territory or anything, but that 1. Reim could not say with certainty at the time that he even wanted to be with Break romantically while Roy could 2. Break used to be SO DIFFICULT about putting up his walls that the fact that Reim is the sort of person who will fight tooth and nail to make a place for himself in the hearts and lives of the people he loves is like. a huge part of how they even managed to be friends. Reim is just naturally Like That, so it wasn't exactly a hardship for him that he needed to be that way to be close to Break, but that makes it kind of hard for him to understand the fact that Roy ISN'T like that, and Roy coming off as kind of resigned to it being over before it even starts kind of felt like a slap in the face. LIKE YOU CAN JUST?? HAVE HIM?? WITHOUT EVEN BEING READY TO CHOP YOUR OWN LIMB OFF TO HOLD ON??? JUST LIKE THAT????? he's not actually remotely angry with Roy, obviously he would have been a LOT angrier if it were the other way around and Roy had been like "lol I'll leave when I get bored" or something, but this was weirdly hurtful in a way that wouldn't have been. but Reim really doesn't think he should be mad about it because he's knows it's because Break's mindset changed a lot around his death so he's just more open now which is a good thing...... he's genuinely glad for it but at the same time there's a tiny bit of a conflicted feeling having to confront not being The Only One Who Can Stand Xerxes Break anymore... my horrible clown man has stopped being such a horrible clown at everyone all the time...

likewise he genuinely appreciates that Roy and Break can understand each other in a way he can't, as people with heavy regrets, and normally wouldn't have been insecure about it because he's pretty comfortable with leaving things he can't do to people who can do them. but because of the rest of the tangled feelings mess he feels a lot more conscious of it being something he can't do for Break and now by extension is feeling like he can't provide that for Elliot either lol OR PROVIDE IT FOR ROY FOR THAT MATTER!!!

WHICH IS A WHOLE LOT OF NONSENSE THAT ALL ISN'T EVEN SLIGHTLY ROY'S FAULT, so Reim would really like to. not put that on him and get to know each other without all of that baggage. put the baggage in a corner somewhere and just deal with it on his own time instead of making it Roy's problem. because Reim doesn't consider himself that close to Roy yet he really thinks of Roy and Break's relationship as not really his business and would like to leave them to their own devices. and setting Break aside, he likes and admires Roy as a person, and is also... worried about him... he feels bad for yelling at him and also feels a little tenuous about their current standing, because Roy sort of confided in him but since Reim feels he more or less pressured him into it, he isn't really sure if he can consider himself someone who is genuinely welcome to know those things or reach out for those topics ever again.

so all in all rn he's kind of like let's just talk about phones and coding and things that are not about our relationship drama or your personal traumas until I can feel out how comfortable you actually are with me rn and I can see if being friends is still on the table. being friends would be nice. he is also more secure in his relationship with/feelings towards Break now, so he likewise feels more at ease talking to Roy in general, since he doesn't have the sort of looming feeling of like 'oops I took something from you that you had more right to and wanted way more than me'

The 'oops all yelling!' is actually the most This Sure Feels Like My Family thing to Roy, so like. Of everything, that's the part that makes Reim feel familiar, for better or worse. Better because he feels like it was the most honest Reim has been (not that he's dishonest but more like, he's just careful about how much he says?), worse because I mean have you met Roy's family.

He is just very aware, that he Cannot Be Like Reim. And his life was nothing like Reim's? How did Reim just... accidentally wind up stuck at the Rainsworths' and get welcomed there so easily? How does he insert himself so confidently into the dango when he knows Sharon probably loves Break more, and still feel like he belongs there? Is this why he assumes that Roy would also insert himself, as though it'd be a foregone conclusion that he'd be accepted eventually with enough persistence?

Being Less Loved to Reim still means he can be wanted; being Less Loved to Roy means the inevitability of being thrown away, is his impression of the difference between them. None of Roy's persistence in breaking down people's walls and building trust and love has ever amounted to anything like permanence, so... maybe Reim is just what a better man looks like. If Roy was less like Roy and more like Reim, he wouldn't get abandoned, say the intrusive thoughts.

Obviously Reim is protective of Break's feelings, and he can sense the indignation that Break would open up so quickly to Roy, so after all the stuff he yelled, Roy is in the zone of... it is expected that I should be in this relationship for Break's benefit (understandable) so Break can have his character development of Wanting Things (he should, it is correct). I need to bring something to be table in order for this to be accepted (luckily I am a tech genius - therefore useful). I'm going to avoid evaluating how valid I am for the things I want, now.

He's not super sure how to be friends with Reim because he has to be Useful, foremost. He wants to please but that means he doesn't feel comfortable enough to be totally relaxed. But he does care about Reim and how squishy he is, blease. You're a nice guy but I just exist to stave off rejection rn.

as far as actual longterm arc stuff goes I WAS MOSTLY WORRIED IT MIGHT BE HARD ON TREE OR MICHI but they thought it sounded fun so I just went for it. I did make sure that there are like, treatment methods that cr could potentially participate in so that they could get to feel like there was something they could do about it also. in my heart I sort of hope once monster powers are unlocked I can also have arknights powers but I’m not holding out for that specifically.

rn Reim feels bad he let this happen and he will probably continue to feel bad he let this happen for the foreseeable future, but things like physical helplessness/dependency/general pain or suffering don’t really... keep him down or anything... so it probably won’t really result in any kind of despair spiral (tho also he probably won’t take any useful lesson from it either LOL). so I expect I will mostly end up playing an arc about adjusting to being chronically ill in daily life with a helping of ‘this is my own fault I did this to my loved ones’ on top

Specifically, Roy knows the guy is untrustworthy as shit and a constant liar, but he's trying to figure out if he's more a danger to himself, or people around him.

And he's doing that by bullying him.

Because of the whole 'being in prison' thing, he isn't a bad guy Roy can just beat up and... send to prison away from innocents. So he's tentatively like, let's see if we can still work together, and address your problems in a productive way. If so, maybe he can be helped. If not, thennnn okay I have to beat you up for real.

(This is made complicated by Elliot being here, because Elliot will definitely be upset if Roy beat up Vincent.)

He'll give bad people a chance if it seems like they do have a heart under everything... but he's definitely keeping an eye on him.
