he definitely has an impression of Roy as kind of crass/probably from a lower class upbringing, which sticks out to Reim because he's used to people being at the same or higher standing than himself (Break excepted), but it's not something that actually bothers him on any level. he feels a little less obligated to observe strict etiquette with Roy partly because of that but also as u can maybe tell he still largely keeps it up anyway because he's just used to it/it's just polite/they're not that close yet
although Roy talks like an unserious person, Reim is someone who... assesses people primarily based on their apparent motivations and really not much on how they actively talk or behave... sometimes to a slightly insane extent...... so he doesn't actually think of Roy as an unserious person, because in their conversations Roy has listened attentively, clearly been interested in Reim as a person, and clearly puts thought into productive measures and offers to help at every opportunity. so Reim thinks of him as someone friendly and informal but not someone who deflects to avoid serious matters. HE DOESN'T EVEN REALLY PROCESS YET THAT ROY IS LIKE... A BIG FLIRT... like not that he hasn't gathered that Roy is a big flirt, but even though both their conversations have veered into flirting/relationship talk, he sort of just thinks of that as 'oh the conversations happened to go that way' rather than ascribing it directly to Roy is a horndog. because in both conversations like. the first one felt like it was more about wanting to know more about Break and Reim on a general level and he just cracked the crush thing as a joke, the second one even though he hit on Reim it ended up in the middle of a lot of offering to help him out/concern about his comfort/asking more about him/etc. SO REIM DOESN'T THINK IT'S LIKE... REALLY HIS PRIORITY TO GET IN BED WITH SOMEONE
so all in all he has a really good impression of him and is grateful he's in Break's group. suffer under more attentive nice people, Xerxes Break

He's slightly pinged that Reim might be holding back more about himself than he lets on, but not in a malicious way - just the mundane way he described working for the Rainsworths clearly skipped out on the supernatural aspect that Roy learned from Break feels similar to how Roy himself is hiding his superhero affiliations.
But he seems like good people, going by how positive and eager to help and learn Reim's been. Has a hunch that this guy is the type to overwork himself. SANDWICHES... is so thoughtful and unnecessary but kind. And clearly this is a man who has Put Up With Break's Shit and cares for him deeply. Wouldn't it be nice to have a friend like Reim in his life. Man. Don't think about this part too much or he'll get sad!
Reim doesn't lack in self esteem the way Break does, but it's clearly a huge oversight that no one's ever told him he's pretty. Old timey people were just that repressed? But also: Roy's gonna keep doing it because he deserves to hear he's cute. Like he's not actively trying to sleep with him because he doesn't seem like the type to have a casual fling, but it's just fun to see him blush. Roy here to make everyone suffer at least a little.

but also more importantly 2. this person will get 10000000x more frustrating to deal with if I try to adjust to cater to what he wants from me and he catches me out in a lie and I'm a bad actor anyway so I have to just be aggressively honest with him. HILARIOUSLY BECAUSE REIM BEING AGGRESSIVELY HIMSELF IS, A NICE POLITE AND VERY NERVOUS MAN, THIS MADE HIM COME OFF LIKE HE WAS TRYING TO SUCK UP INSTEAD LMAO
in their second thread he completely expected and braced himself for Vicious to argue with him and to take him in bad faith, so he has been choosing his responses really carefully. at the point they're at in the thread now he has kind of resigned himself to the fact that he won't get Vicious's help on the clinic in particular, but his whole approach in the conversation has been to try to understand Vicious's perspective and motivations to try and find out if there is literally any way to convince him to cooperate and help with the clinic. WHICH HE HAS BEEN PRETTY OPEN ABOUT
but in their talking he has sort of concluded that Vicious actually doesn't dislike him that much and they can actually talk to each other fine. at one point Reim laughed a little because he sort of guessed that Vicious wants to get back for a person, which is also why Reim is so motivated-- so even though Vicious is like WE DON'T ALL WANT THE SAME THINGS!! he and Reim do actually kind of want the same thing. when Vicious said all he wanted was to spite people Reim had kind of a sinking feeling that maybe it would be impossible for Reim to really find a way to understand him after all but then that came right on its heels so it was like... a relief a bit. that they both have the same goal of going home, and that Vicious saying he only does things he wants to do meant he actually wanted to keep talking to Reim or he would just cut the conversation off were both things that Reim kept in mind but decided against saying aloud in case testing either of them would make Vicious get contrary lol. but then in one of the most recent comments Vicious more or less confirmed that he was still talking to Reim because he felt like it, so Reim increasingly thinks Vicious is actually someone he can get along with just fine the further the thread goes on
Vicious's circumstances strongly remind Reim of a girl from his canon named Lily, who he initially met when she murdered like four of his coworkers in front of him. Lily is a Baskerville which is a family of people who commit a big massacre in the past and continue to be considered a big threat and enemy by Reim's organization later on-- but a lot of this was fabricated by one dude's elaborate plot/misinformation campaign while he was trying to kind of cause the apocalypse. this and also the fact that Lily's hometown branded her with a tattoo on her face and cast her out because she was a bringer of misfortune are the things Reim was thinking about in particular while they were talking about narratives and public opinion
Lily is mentally really young and really simplistic about things, so DEALING with her and dealing with Vicious are completely different things, especially because Lily liked Reim a lot (and he was not shy about using that to his advantage). but he cares about her a lot and is in some ways extending that to Vicious, and also is taking his words to heart in a way of like... consciously thinking about his part being originally complicit in the narrative that he and Lily had to be enemies, and thinking about how to be more aware of that sort of thing? he doesn't really know how similar Vicious's hurt is to Lily's wrt their persecution and doesn't want to assume, and he's erring on the side of "Vicious does NOT just want to friends the way Lily just wanted to be friends" but also Reim slightly wants to be friends. at the very least out of curiosity
SO EVEN THOUGH HE DOESN'T THINK HE CAN GET VICIOUS TO HELP WITH THE CLINIC he is settling in with the idea that they could still have an ultimately positive/productive relationship down the line in other ways and that's nice too
the fact that Vicious could potentially kill him with his brain is legitimately terrifying and he is still picking his words carefully in part because he doesn't want to push so hard Vicious puts that on the table after all but also since Reim is a complete noncombatant he's a little like
REVERSE ME?
no subject
As I said on Plurk, he instantly disliked him in their first thread because the thing that Vicious hates and looks down on most is people doing things just to appease other people, which is how he read it when Reim immediately caved and got apologetic when challenged even a little bit.
BUT for the same reason, him holding his ground in the second thread is endearing him to Vicious a bit. Vicious doesn't necessarily care if people approach things differently than he does, even when they do things he personally thinks are stupid. In fact he likes that as long as they have their own personal conviction about it, because it's interesting to him! So Reim's kind of hitting that by arguing with him and explaining where he's coming from, because it's a perspective Vicious hasn't heard before and doesn't really understand.
He's still unsure exactly where "identify what everyone else wants so I can figure out a compromise that benefits me" falls on the scale of personal conviction though. SOUNDS KINDA LAME? But maybe smart? But who compromises??
But overall Vicious is pretty chill, so he is in fact willing to just chat amiably about stuff as long as no one is actively trying to execute him. He is even willing to go along with stuff and help people sometimes, just... only when he likes someone and feels like helping them, not as a trade for something or for the ~general good~
ALSO THE ANALOGY TO LILY ACTUALLY SOUNDS EXTREMELY CLOSE. DO YOU WANNA HEAR ABOUT BEING BRANDED WITH A TATTOO AND CAST OUT OF SOCIETY FOR BEING A BRINGER OF MISFORTUNE,
What are Reim's thoughts on conflict in reverie. Like what would he do if someone actually started killing people
no subject
HE COMPLETELY EXPECTS IT TO HAPPEN LMAO
he has vague hopes it would not reach the point of murder (little does he know we have long sailed past the point of murder) but he has been extremely wary of the fact they were separated into distinct groups literally from arrival. in spite of this he hasn't talked about his apprehensions about it much and has been using cell block designations as an organizational tool for chores/meal organization, I think he's only made like... two or three comments letting on about how many red flags it put up for him? but like, his expectations at the start before bingo happened were "either we're going to be pit against each other or we're going to be more like different departments assigned to different things but us-vs-them faction sentiments are going to crop up and probably be intentionally cultivated anyway."
which is not something he's HAPPY about but also his thinking around it isn't 'how do I avoid or prevent this,' it's 'how do I work around this.' once bingo dropped and gave a clearer idea of how they're going to be competing against each other, he himself actually has had multiple threads with non-teammates where he made a point of doing more of his own tasks than he helped the other person with so that he could make sure Phoenix was at an advantage in that interaction. HE EXPLICITLY ASKED AKIRA IF ECHIDNA ALSO COUNTS TOWARDS THE TWO TEAMS WHO GET TO WIN AND SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED REFUSING TO HELP AKIRA WITH TASKS... BUT THEN HE FELT BAD... BUT HE STILL REALLY ONLY HELPED AKIRA BECAUSE HE DOESN'T THINK AKIRA HAS A CHANCE TO WIN WHEN HE'S ALONE ANYWAY
obviously those are not examples of violent conflict (and in fact he pretty successfully covered up any sign that there was any kind of conflict at all in all of those threads) but while Reim is ultimately well-meaning and kind he is also... a lot more morally slippery of a person than he initially appears. now that Sharon is here his motivation to leave is gone so he's not going to be anywhere near as intense about trying to win, but before she showed up he was definitely bracing himself to do worse things. staying well-liked in the community IS still really important to him so he still would have tried not to pull anything too wild even so, but that's... a self-preservation measure as much as anything since if virtually anyone hated him enough to want him dead he would just get bodied instantly.
so if people did start killing each other his response would really depend a lot on who and why. like if Break killed anyone he'd just be like GODDAMNIT XERXES BREAK. OK SIT DOWN I'LL PLAY DAMAGE CONTROL and he would just assume Break had a good reason without even asking LMAOOO. if someone came after Phoenix or his canonmates he'd be a lot more invested in figuring out why it happened and trying to figure out ways to prevent it in the future. if someone tries to kill HIM he will do his best to perform some kind of high level verbal parkour to get out of it alive (and then probably would have to spend a bunch of time after fielding the reactions of his cr lol). if someone totally unrelated to him kills someone totally unrelated to him... he will want to KNOW about it so he can have the information at his disposal for the future, but he probably wouldn't involve himself. but in all of the above scenarios he's solely concerned with keeping himself and his people safe on a pragmatic level and stuff like grudges or vengeance or justice do not factor into his priorities whatsoever
how has the powercap affected Vicious/has he noticed it yet/how does he feel about it

TELL ME HOW REIM IS FEELING ABOUT HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH BREAK AND SHARON AS OF LIKE THIS MOMENT MIDTHREAD
no subject
HE. THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE HARDER. HE DID EXPECT SHARON TO PURSUE BREAK BUT HE SORT OF THOUGHT MAYBE HE WOULD HAVE TO REASSURE HER FIRST AND ALSO DID NOT EXPECT THE LOVE CONFESSION TO HAPPEN DIRECTLY ON TOP OF HIM. he was also half-worried Break would lie and reject her but he's less surprised that went the way it did since Break is a weenie--
he actually really wants them to have alone time with each other because he feels like he's a bit in the way of them catching up when they keep derailing to pay attention to him. i am uncomfortable when we are about me? tho in fairness it's not that he wants or expects to extricate himself from the dynamic longterm [unlike some people] but like I ALREADY GOT SO MUCH TIME WITH YOU BOTH ON MY OWN YOU GUYS SHOULD ALSO GET THAT WITH EACH OTHER
he would absolutely never like directly say this in front of her because he knows she would beat the shit out of him but he DOES still think of himself as second to Break in Sharon's heart, and also fully believes that the only reason she is in love with him is because he orchestrated it. neither of these things actually bother him! he does not think that makes her feelings for him less real or less valuable (and on the contrary the fact he was able to get her to fall for him is extremely gratifying). but also it was nice to hear her say that her feelings for him didn't go poof the moment she saw Break again because even though he was PRETTY CONFIDENT they would stay solid there was still like. a little tiny chance. you know. it's hard to predict a contingency for "her dead first love is suddenly alive again." but he is glad too that she completely trusted he would understand her feelings and intentions
he STILL FEELS A LITTLE GUILTY TOWARDS BREAK FOR MARRYING SHARON LMAO even though like. the entire premise of Break feeling left behind is wrong. he still does not really know how to tell him that nothing about their marriage is about moving on from Break whatsoever. but it's pretty residual now since it seems like they've at least come to enough of an understanding about how much they both care about Break that he's given up and isn't that the important part here. he has not yet had to think about if this changes his relationship with Break in any way and as far as he's concerned it doesn't. they are very good friends. it's nice.
all in all he has some concerns, including the ones he brought up about doing badly at games on purpose, but also in like. he's kind of already coming to terms on his own with the idea that they probably only have a few years or so with Break before his old man body gives out and he eats it again, and he just wants to make the best of the time they have until that happens or until he and Sharon have to leave. but for the most part he's just very happy. very sated. finally they kissed. everything is right in the world. if he thinks about this hard enough he might cry but in a good way. HE LOVES THEM BOTH A LOT... HE IS JUST VERY HAPPY... he honestly hasn't even fully processed the relationship update and he's probably going to kind of explode when his brain completely catches up with what's going on

METAPHORICALLY
he's kind of dying, also metaphorical let's ignore the literal in this case, because he really truly does not understand how he's not fucking this up for them. BUT SINCE IT HAS BEEN REPEATEDLY INSISTED THAT HE IS NOT he is determined not to sideline Reim.
hilariously his initial confession/response to sharon's confession was... supposed to be a platonic admission of loving them but he really fucked that one up and it's not like their read on it is WRONG. but since he's committing to the non-platonic reading he is hoping Reim understands it also applies to him. he suspects Reim does not get it.
so that's why he's being an obnoxious KISS YOUR WIFE gremlin until he can man the fuck up enough to kiss reim himself.
because yeah he is INCREDIBLY shy about romancing them actually. he doesn't want to fuck this up, most of all, so he is losing his tiny gremlin mind.
it will also occur to him in a bit that he should maybe stop banging Roy asap but that will take a bit to sink in.
REIM ON BUGBEAR

I don't think he really has a sense yet of Bugbear's group dynamic though except that Roy clearly likes Break and gets along with him (but not how much)
what does Break generally intend to do from here do you think

there is a certain kind of ease also in Harlock being the closest to him in age on Phoenix (even moreso since Harlock is a little older and Reim is sort of used to behaving/being treated more in an older bracket than his own actual age bracket in some ways); he doesn't think anyone else is less capable for being younger and is completely open to relying even on teenagers in ways other people would not be comfortable relying on teenagers, but on a conversational level it's like, ah I can talk to someone at a closer match to my own mindset in some ways. it's nice!
also they have touched hands in NEARLY EVERY THREAD which isn't super important to what kind of person Reim thinks Harlock is, but Reim has much less of a personal space bubble than one might expect (but obv isn't super touchy because Propriety), so the facet of casual physicality also adds an extra layer of comfort for him interacting with Harlock
reverse me?
no subject
And also yes having someone close to his age (we think, Leiji is inconsistent here) has a far different vibe than someone younger as he tends to have a bit of a fatherly edge with younger characters. So Harlock doesn't feel quite like he has to watch himself as much when speaking with Reim.
And the touching is definitely interesting as in canon he's usually pretty standoffish except with Miime and Tochiro when it comes to physical contact. So someone he is fine with touching his hand is something that's low-key a surprise for him. Like he took Reim's hand in the first thread mostly because Reim's blindness just reminded him of Tochiro.

I put a little bit of Sharon specific stuff here already but in addition to that. he is just so happy she's here. I'VE BEEN FOLLOWING SHARON'S OTHER THREADS and everyone being like "oh poor Reim he must be so worried" is so funny to me because he's,,, not NOT worried but dramatically less worried than he is relieved and thrilled. the thing is that he knows Sharon is actually a strong person! so even though PRISON is a hard adjustment and probably more dangerous than their domestic aristocrat life at home he also knows she can deal with it and would rather be here than safe but alone. so he's glad because he knows she's happier this way... and she gets to see Break again...
because they've only been married for one year I've def been playing Reim a little bit in sort of the honeymoon/newlywed stage where he is just unbelievably infatuated with everything she says and does. he is so happy they are married at all. look at his wife. (I call it the newlywed stage but will Reim ever truly leave this stage with Sharon.) but at the same time bc they've known each other so long and because Reim in particular is someone who is so locked in on what the people he cares about are like, he's also like. really relaxed and comfortable with her and their interactions. he is really ready and ok with sharing everything and every part of his life with her. so he also treats her in a much more familiar way like they've been together much longer than he's even been courting her at the same time as 'this is my wife ♥♥♥ have you met my wife ♥♥♥♥"
there's kind of a funny irony I assume happened wrt him courting her where it's like 'I carefully manicured all of my behaviors and responses to woo her' but the thing is that because wanting to be able to stand as someone's equal and not have to be powerless or protected is such a core issue of Sharon's, I kind of assume it involved a not insignificant amount of like. just being honest with her about his thoughts and problems and letting her feel trustworthy and meaningful in his life in return. SO HE IS STILL JUST... FINE WITH DOING THAT. like there is a part of him also that wants to do everything for her and he has to consciously tamp down on that bc it's not what she really wants/needs. if he DID do that it would just be for his own satisfaction, but he knows she is a really capable person who takes challenges as opportunities to grow and so he is like. simultaneously going to be hovering around and trying to vet everyone she talks to and everything that might happen to her on some level but also not really seem that actively over-protective bc he'll just let her do a lot on her own (and will eat her cooking......)
to Reim seeing Sharon happy and having fun is like. the best thing. even in a scenario where she is picking on him it would still just be like aaaaa Sharon is enjoying herself aaa //// she's enjoying herself because of me aaaaa ///////. when he told Roy he was married and he wanted to get back to her really desperately, he mentioned that he's never made her cry before and that was a really complicated emotion for him also, because a large part of that is that he's very considerate of her but it's also because she didn't used to care about him as deeply (although she did still care about him a lot). so if he risked his life then it wouldn't used to make the same impact as Break risking his life. but now if Reim just vanished for days with no trace or explanation he KNOWS it would absolutely wreck her and he doesn't want that to happen but also... it goes to show that he is more loved now... he still does not want her to cry ever though
he is a little bit worried that this place will be dangerous to her on a level of 'she might get attacked' and also doesn't like that they're in different groups and might ask to at least move to the same group, but as far as danger goes he's also like 'Break is here so it will be okay.' also hopefully she'll get Equus back which will help him feel better about it too. more than that he's worried, or maybe more like bracing for her losing Break again but... he also trusts that will go better since. this whole thing is really just extra time to get closure and make peace with it and be greedy together. so he hopes and expects it won't be nearly the same level of knife in the gut as it was the first time, but there is still a little bit of just like. anticipatory dread. like going in to get a shot you know it won't actually be that bad but also you know it's going to hurt. which goes for HIMSELF losing Break again too on some level but he knows he's already working on that, but he's admittedly a little hesitant to talk to bring up the topic with Sharon just yet-- he thinks probably she has considered that he's going to die again at any time also, or even if she hasn't yet it'll still occur to her on her own at some point (or Break might even point it out to her, which Reim would consider better for her in the long run than Reim bringing it up first), so it's not because he wants her to stay oblivious about it, but he just like... doesn't really want to say it out loud and make the window they have feel darker when right now it feels so bright
I could honestly probably keep going if I tried. he has a lot of thoughts and feelings about Sharon.

he's charming because he screams like a baby but he also must be either resourceful or careful because burning her face seems like the work of either a last-ditch weapon (resourceful) or a weapon that he's partial to and she's curious to know which side he falls on (not knowing that he is both)
he's also charming because despite her actually just aggroing him when she initially woke up he didn't try to attack her again which matters more with the context of "oh he did attack before though" bc it's like, oh this dude is making the CONSCIOUS decision to trust that she will not fuck him up despite the fact that the way specter menaces and the way shark menaces are pretty different (*she thinks she is less menacing when she's asleep and more menacing when she's awake). she does not expect land-dwellers to trust like that so the fact that he does is just like. b'aw. on top of that he was trying to bandage her up????? like?????? sir you are right to be afraid she is a monster. what's wrong with him HE'S NOT EVEN A DOCTOR
it additionally feels silly to her that he tended to her wounds because she is so used to her monstrous accelerated healing that (on top of being a biohazard) it feels like a waste of time and effort for someone to bother trying to nurse her to health. this has served to only be more reason to be charmed by manta ray
she also feels a little bit, like, responsible for menacing him like that when she woke up and moreso potentially getting him oripathy sick so while she does broadly feel duty-bound to every reverie person in the game on account of This Is Her Job, she feels extra like that for reim. as reticent as she is to really bond with or get invested in land-dwellers she does also feel responsible for the oripathy in her affecting someone else, so. joke's on reim he's adopted by a supersoldier shark nun now.
also she likes that he vibes like a very serious and earnest and fussy person because she's a shitter and likes to shit out of her mouth and fuck with people like that. unfortunately all white-haired red-eyed people are clownish fucko monsters (*skadi is the exception as she is not a clown)
i forgot these things also come with asking questions back. uhh uh hh uh hh
which individuals or teams does reim feel to be potential threats
no subject
- Ardyn: HIS FUCKING BATHROOM WAS COVERED IN BLOOD (AND SOME OTHER WEIRD GUNK). HE WAS VERY CIVIL ABOUT KIDNAPPING REIM BUT ALSO HE KIDNAPPED HIM. he CLEARLY wants to win and go home and is willing to go to lengths to achieve that
- Vincent: is Vincent Nightray
- Liontari: like their second conversation was about how Liontari loves to torture people and listen to them scream. while Ardyn and Vincent are more deliberate and industrious about the dangers they present, Liontari and Vicious are more in a category of 'they don't even seem to want anything out of it so there is really no way to predict them or prevent them from causing problems.' between the two Liontari is a lot more mercurial and actively malicious though
- Vicious: is a significantly lesser concern to Reim because he actually seems more bark than bite at the moment. Reim doesn't doubt that he could or would kill people, but he just doesn't seem interested in doing so, and as long as he doesn't feel like it he... just won't. so that is kind of the problem in hand already? but he is still an unpredictable element
- Childe: seems like he's trying to be well-behaved so at least there's that. unfortunately also seems like unlike Vicious he would really like to kill some people for fun
- Orca: he has such bad vibes but at this point he has done so much for Reim that Reim is almost starting to be like MAYBE I WAS WRONG TO THINK HE MIGHT BE DANGEROUS... AND HE'S ACTUALLY JUST REALLY ANNOYING...
although he's bad at handling Vincent and Liontari and Vicious he likes all of these people though. the only exception is Childe bc they've only spoken once
does SPECTER consider anyone to be potential threats or otherwise a potential problem of some kind
